| So I’m finally living and working in Washington DC!!! We’ll….McLean, Virginia that is. I miss Texas and everybody back at home so much! It's only been a few weeks, but I can't wait to come home! So here’s what I’ve been up to…
23 Hour Road Trip
With a packed-full car, a bag of fruit and Triscuits, and 2-pages of Mapquest directions, me and Leroy embarked on our 1500 mile road trip through Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia. Road trip music consisted of Aqualung, Michael Buble, Death Cab, Stars, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Black Eye Peas and what I like to call “random pop.” We stopped numerous times to use the restroom. But never ate at a Cracker Barrel (that’s for the trip back). We pulled into Steve’s house at 1:00 am where I was greeted by my dear Janet’s gorgeous face.

Crisis Management 101: Finding a place to stay the day you arrive
In January, I found a place to live in off of Craigslist. My friend, Debbie, checked out the place for me and I got her stamp of approval. When I arrived to move in, the person I was in contact with was unreachable by phone, the front door was unlocked (so we walked straight in), a random guy was sleeping in the room that was to be mine, and a rabid dog would not stop biting my foot. I went back later and got my deposit back, but not my first month’s rent. I’m very upset about that. I eventually found a new place to live (again, off of Craigslist) that day. I now live in the backhouse (the main and back are connected) of an Asian couple with 3 adorable children. Living with me is a nice car salesman and a design student. I have my own room (with two beds) and share a bathroom; the rest of the house is very home-y. I like it so much better

Craving Work & Overtime
I anticipated (and wanted) to work 55+ hours a week during my internship. But instead, I’ve been sitting in my cubicle doing WBLs (web-based learning) modules. Everyone has been telling me that the first week and a half is always really boring and you don’t do much. Well, they are right. I’m looking forward to next week where I’ll hopefully get assigned to projects and engagements.
